About Sarah Grace Simas
I began sewing in 2020 when the COVID had shut everything down. I had a few online sewing lessons from a family friend so I could better understand the basics of sewing. Once I learned some simple seams and stitches I began to explore the possibilites of what I could design. During 2020 I experimented and created as many things as I could.
Over 2020 and 2021 I gained a lot of knowledge about apparel construction, pattern drafting, and sewing techniques. I am now majoring in Fashion Textile Design where I am able to continue learning about the fashion design process, and well as textile designs. My first year at NC State has taught me a lot about the design process, looking to nature for inspiration, and developing concepts behind collections. I have had the opportunity to learn and use software like CLO, Kaleido, and Photoshop to create my designs.
